Athletic Stadium, Wahiajer
Meghalaya

The Wahiajer Multi-Sports Complex is positioned as a marquee sports project, with particular significance for residents of the West Jaintia Hills, Meghalaya. As lead architects, Collage Design gave vision to the complex that sprawls over an expansive 16-acres.

The Football Field serves as an infield within the Athletic Track – both meeting the requirements of FIFA and IAA international codes. The development features a synthetic Football Turf, an 8-lane, 400m World Athletics Certified Synthetic Athletics Track, a 100m Straight Athletic Track, and Spectator Stands with a capacity of 4300. It also includes facilities for Long Jump, Triple Jump, Pole Vault, Steeplechase, Javelin Throw, Shot Put, and Discus Throw. Additional features include VIP Facility Block, Locker Rooms, Office Spaces, Media Centre, and ample Parking areas.

The Stadium, designed to integrate with the landscape, makes use of vernacular elements such as the geometry of stone monoliths. It is a cost effective, low maintenance modern sports complex which will also act as a catalyst for complementary development in the surrounding areas. The Complex will encourage the youth to use the facility for training and development.
