The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has embarked on a transformative initiative to establish Indoor Cricket Academies in Jammu in the North, and in the Northeastern States of Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Sikkim, Mizoram, and Arunachal Pradesh. As Lead Design Consultants, Collage Design is working closely with various stakeholders to achieve the most advanced Training facilities for the sport. Envisioned as more than cricket academies, these facilities also aim to become cultural hubs in each of the locations.

The design for the Academies in the Northeast takes inspiration from the rich landscapes that the region is well endowed with. Sikkim’s Cricket Association Mining Ground in Rangpo is set against the backdrop of the majestic Kanchenjunga mountain while the facade for the Arunachal Centre imitates the fluid lines of the magnanimous rivers. Colours are an integral part of the culture of the Northeast and they have aptly been reflected in the design to lend a distinct identity.

The 7 Academies, each spanning approximately 2350 sqm, will seamlessly integrate with existing cricket infrastructure and feature all-weather compact modular training spaces. Facilities will include multiple indoor cricket pitches, a 25m Swimming Pool, a Fitness Centre, Locker Rooms and allied features such as Administration Areas and Cafeteria. The design harmonises with local heritage, creating not just a sporting venue but also a community space. These Training Facilities are poised to serve as the nurturing ground for the next generation of cricketing talent from across North-East India, and promise to herald a new era of cricket development and inclusivity in the country.
