Sports Infrastructure Masterplan, Meghalaya

Sports is woven in the fabric of every community of Meghalaya, with many Athletes from the State having represented the country at prestigious National and International events. To further facilitate the development of Sports, Tourism, and Youth activities, the Gov’t has taken initiatives to create necessary infrastructures needed for grooming, nurturing and channelizing of talent, especially at the grassroot level. Collage Design has been appointed as the Technical Consultants for Design and Project Management for the development of Sports, Tourism and allied Infrastructure projects across various districts of Meghalaya.

This large-scale initiative requires upgradation and expansion of Facilities, along with new state-of-the-art Venues, to cater to a diverse range of sporting disciplines. Adventure Sports and Tourism Infrastructures will be developed, while a Centre of Excellence for Disability Sports will foster inclusivity. Football being the most popular sport, Stadiums to promote the game are being developed in Wahlyngkhat and Kynshi. They are envisaged to function as recreational facilities and have been equipped with a Pavilion Building with Seats and allied features for Players and Spectators. We are also upgrading the Sunny Hills Indoor Stadium in Tura through use of modern technology. This will give the Stadium a facelift to bring it at par with International Standards. Multiple projects in the State capital, Shillong are also underway. These include the Crinoline Swimming Pool, the SSA Football Stadium, and the U-Tirot Singh Bhavan which is a Sports and Tourism Office Building.

By promoting a culture of physical activity and well-being, these projects will leave a lasting impact on the lives of Meghalaya’s citizens. Collage Design’s commitment to world-class design, functionality, and sustainability in each project ensures this comprehensive approach will transform Meghalaya’s sporting landscape, driving not only athletic achievement but also economic growth and increase in tourism.
