In the undulating landscape of the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand, stands the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, popularly known as the Dehradun Cricket Stadium. Certified with the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Gold Standard, the stadium transcends its role as a cricketing venue to symbolise cutting-edge design principles, cultural integration, and a commitment to a sustainable future.
A world-class facility designed to meet the ICC guidelines, its precast seating bowl can accommodate up to 25,000 spectators and offers a panoramic, uninterrupted view of the playing field, set against the picturesque landscape of Dehradun. The stadium’s unique feature lies in its Aipan art-inspired tensile fabric and polycarbonate sheet roof, creating a striking architectural statement. The roof, along with sandstone façades and double-glazed windows, reflect both tradition and modernity. Its first international match, held in 2018, elevated the venue’s stature on the global cricketing map.
The Dehradun Cricket Stadium’s potential for various sporting events and cultural activities positions it as a dynamic hub for the community. Triple height atriums, bars and restaurants, corporate suites and lounges provide the spectators with a new viewing experience of the game. The clubhouse complex is equipped with a 150 seat auditorium, guest rooms, bowling alley, and indoor sports facilities. Restaurants, retail spaces, banquet halls, and conference rooms contribute to enhancing the overall experience.
