International Cricket Stadium Varanasi
uttar pradesh

The foundation for Eastern Uttar Pradesh’s first International Cricket Stadium was laid in 2023 in the holy city of Varanasi by the Hon’ble Prime Minister. Collage Design, working closely with the team at L&T has created a ‘one of its kind’ architectural design expression for the stadium that is relevant to the ethos of Varanasi. It draws inspiration from the principles of sanctity and cultural importance of Lord Shiva as the eternal source of energy and purity. An ensemble of elements that depict Shiva, such as the trishool, crescent moon and damroo, have been interwoven with features intrinsic to the game of cricket. The end result is a design that reflects a modern outlook rooted in the historical value of the region.

To be built on a wide campus of about 31 acres on the outskirts of Varanasi, the Stadium is being developed by Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association under the guidance of the BCCI. The Main Ground will be as per ICC Standards with 9 Pitches and the Practice ground will consist of 5 pitches. It aims to provide an “Iconic” sports facility that will also be an Entertainment and Tourist destination for the country. With a seating capacity of 30,000 spectators, the Stadium will be able to successfully host International and National Sports Events.
