JN Stadium Upgradation

The JN Stadium Complex is undergoing a remarkable transformation through the upgradation of its facilities. The expansion will strengthen Shillong’s position as a major hub for sports, conventions, tourism, and cultural events throughout the year. Used mainly for Football, the Stadium also includes a Cricket Ground and a Tennis Complex, while the Indoor area caters to multiple sports. Collage Design was retained by the State Sports Council Meghalaya to upgrade the Stadium through a comprehensive Architectural Masterplan. Spread over 40 Acres, the upgrade of the existing stadium includes expansion of the Seating capacity to 30,000, redesigning of the Façade, Field of Play, Seating Stands, and Interior works.

A Multi-purpose Sports Complex and Indoor Stadium as per international standards is proposed behind the Stadium to fulfil the needs of the local sports played in Meghalaya. The Football Stadium has been designed to create new stands, Field of Play with artificial turf and Sports Lighting in compliance with AFC and FIFA guidelines. A Tennis Complex is proposed with 250 Spectator Seating, 5 Practice Courts, 1 Match Court with Viewing Gallery and all support facilities for the players. An Aquatic Centre is planned with an Olympic Size Swimming Pool, along with a Training Pool. A new Indoor Integrated Hospitality and Sports Complex is an integral part of the JN Stadium Complex. Supporting facilities for the players, along with Hostels and an Administration Block have also been included in the Masterplan.
